Not in love.
Lying here tonight in bed as I just put my winter teddy bear sheets on my bed, I realized that something is really different about me and different about this time of year, this year. For the first time in years, I'm not in love. Not in any way, shape or form. Wow, that feels oddly liberating and depressing at the exact same time.

Princesa.
So, driving back from Taxco to Puerto Marques is supposed to take three-four hours... last night we took seven - but before I tell you that story you have to see how beautiful the little city of Taxco is - photos to come soon.
Today we spent the morning/afternoon at the Princess beach. It was the hottest day I've felt since I've been here and the sand was on fire! We spent the day playing and getting smashed in the giant olas (waves), frying our poor bodies and drinking amazing sangria while watching Mexico kick the American's asses in the World Cup qualifying game at the Princess hotel! My silly old man bet me 200 pesos they'd loose. Word to the wise - have faith in the Mexicans! Later on I went surfing for the first time at Revolcadero beach. I now know why it's literally impossible to surf there! I admire those local surfers (though they are rare) that get out there and surf that! The undertow is crazy. I was nearly assaulted by the salvavida (lifeguard) teaching me how to get through the currents, but that's a story for a select few I'll tell some other time. Apparently, Acapulquenos have big hands. Anyhow, the plan for tonight was to head out downtown, but the sun has taken everything out of us and we're just taking it easy at the condo, it's such a nice night as I'm sitting by the pool there's a perfect breeze and not a cloud in the sky. It's insane how many more stars I can see from here than from in little old Ladner, probably 100 times more. Tonight I remembered to wear my bug spray, and I haven't got one bite! Touch wood... now they're going to attack! Anyhow, I'm off to get some sleep so I'm ready for a big night on the town tomorrow!

We love Mexicans (and Mexico).
So, after one night with a couple of Mexican boys, clearly trouble started. We woke up in the morning at 10 a.m. to get ready go to the the Princess Beach with Rodrigo and Enrique and went down at what we thought was eleven thirty... because we didn't see any sign of them or hear from them before that. Turns out both of our phones were on Vancouver time and by the time we checked for them it was 1:30 p.m. Oops... so we decided to take an adventure down to Puerto Marques village instead. Cameras in hand we went on a massive photo hunt and spend the afternoon sipping on Sol with lime in a little palapa on the beach, next to an amazing family who we ended up spending the afternoon sharing bags of fresh shrimp and papaya, salsa music, a boat ride through the bay with 20 other Mexicans, playing with their sweet baby girl and practicing our Spanish. Wow, do I have a new found love for Puerto Marques beach in the summertime, you can actually see the sand and water and their aren't hordes of vacationers from Mexico City taking over the place. The real locals are there and every thing about it is paradise.
On our boat ride across the bay and the sweet family that we spent the day with.
By nighttime we finally got a hold of the boys and they came back to Torre Blanca - we played Cranium and fell in love for the evening. Mexican men are so damn charming it's unbelievable, but some are actually truly genuine. So as the night went on we decided to break the one rule my dad gave us for the trip. "Don't go into the village at night, its dangerous, full of crazy gangs and drugs." What did we decide to do? Take quads down from the condo with the boys and their detective uncle Erin, Bacardi, Tequila and Tecate in hand and made our way down to the village, to the dock and drank the night away, filled with muchos besos. Somehow, Rae and Jay have this pattern as of recently... going for friends. 5:30 a.m. came very quickly and before we knew it, we had to be up to drive to Taxco at 8 a.m. Not cool.

Me and a very gorgeous boy by the pool.
I have to go because currently I am being attacked by about 1000 (probably malaria-ridden) mosquitos and I'm not about to wake up tomorrow morning covered from head to toe in bumps! But when I wake up I will edit/add more detail to this post and tell you about how amazingly beautiful Taxco was, and how we are actually truly lucky to be alive at the moment after taking seven hours to drive down through the mountains with a car that has a broken fuel pump, that broke down six times, no lights, in the middle of a major highway with one lane due to construction, and a dangerous amount of semi trucks...

Waking up in paradise.
I can't believe I stayed away from this place for five years. That's all I can think right now. I'm so happy to finally be home and just to be able to breathe this air and see so many people that I love. We've not even been here 24 hours and have had some adventures already! We did the inevitable stop at Costco before even getting to Torreblanca, and accidently ran into our oldest friend, Miguel - the owner of the restaurant at our condo, Bar Lanai! Loaded up on sunscreen, fresh fruit, gatorade, white wine, and all the ingredients to make homemade pina coladas - the essentials in Acapulco! We came back, unpacked and went down to Bar Lanai for some dinner. Tortilla chips and tortilla soup! Played with my dad's dinner before he ate it, freshly caught lobster! He was frothing at the mouth so I wiped it for him, his pincher's were already cut off but he was still full of life. Poor Sebastian screamed when they threw him into the hot water.... but he tasted better than anything else we've ever had... wow!
Later on we went to the pool, popped a bottle of champagne and celebrated our arrival! We played with our red ball... which led us to some new friends! Rod Stewart and company.

Drank wine, drank rum, listened to music and swam more! Now It's 7:30 a.m and I've already been up for a few hours. I can't sleep when I'm here I feel like there's no time to waste, and getting up early gives me time to do this in the morning! Anyways, I'm off to wake up Jay and take her to see the village, a photo update will be on its way soon! Then we're off to the Princess Beach and the out for the evening to Palladium!

What's up phoenix, what's up.
Oi kids.
We've arrived safely in the heat of Phoenix, Arizona baby! And it's haat - 9:20 p.m. and it's still 91°F. And here we were thinking Vancouver was insanely hot. So after a morning of scrambling to wake up, go tanning, get eyebrows done, we managed to make our flight. Needless to say we spent the entire plane ride snoozing off a terrible hangover/pita pit filled belly/shadi's roll, or in Jay's case, Red Bull overdose and sleep deprivation. But, after an amazing dinner at Ruby Tuesdays, prawns, fish and rice, we're both feeling back in action and have just spent the evening being driven around by our cute shuttle driver, Matthew and in the pool/hot tub! It feels about five in the morning though, so we're heading to bed. Tomorrow - ACAPULCO LOCO. Consider yourselves warned.
Rae, x.
